Meet The BVI Insiders

Claudia Colli

The BVI Insider was created by Claudia Colli, a longtime resident of the British Virgin Islands and a professional travel writer and editor. She was the publisher and editor of The Welcome Guide to the British Virgin Islands for 30 years; has freelanced for newspapers, yachting and travel publications in the Caribbean, the US and UK; and has authored two guidebooks to the BVI, Introducing the BVI, and British Virgin islands: Sheltered Isles of Sea and Sun, published by Macmillan. 

Over the years, she has written about the BVI in loving detail because . . . well, she loves the BVI. Claudia and her fellow writers (and BVI lovers), will introduce you to the islands’ people, their culture, activities and sights, and show you what makes this archipelago of dozens of islands, islets and cays so very special.

Jane Bakewell

Jane Bakewell is a freelance writer who is a regular contributor to The BVI Insider. She landed in the BVI from the US over 30 years ago to help with her family’s small guest cottage business. Falling in love with the islands, she decided to “stay awhile.” After operating a day charter snorkel business for several years, she shifted into writing for numerous travel magazines including “Visit The BVI” and ‘The BVI Welcome Guide” where she also served as Associate Editor. 

Susanna Rice

Susanna Rice is The BVI Insider’s Marketing Assistant.  She has a bachelor’s degree in Resort Management with a Business minor. Susanna owns a property management business and works on high end yachts that charter around the BVI. A true island girl, Susanna has lived in Tortola since she was just 6 weeks old. She enjoys many of the BVI’s outdoor activities including sailing, swimming, wakeboarding, snorkeling and diving. She has been fortunate to travel to many parts of the world but her heart belongs in Tortola.
